Disney Announces Launch Date for ESPN’s Direct-to-Consumer Streaming Service

On its earnings call on Wednesday morning, The Walt Disney Company announced that its ESPN Direct-to-Consumer streaming service and app will be launching on August 21, 2025. This will bring the full suite of ESPN networks and services to a new, enhanced ESPN App. This promises to have new, personalized features and functionality for fans.

The arrival of ESPN DTC will coincide with a stretch of live sports programming across ESPN platforms. This includes the start of the college football and NFL seasons, the US Open tennis, international soccer, women’s college soccer, volleyball, field hockey, and more. There will also soon be the start of the WNBA playoffs, PLL playoffs, and NBA and NHL seasons, as well as UFC and WWE events.

Pricing

There will be two plans offered when ESPN DTC launches. One will be the Unlimited Plan and the Select Plan. Below are the details for each of these plans:

Select Plan

$11.99 a month or $119.99 a year

Access to all content available on ESPN+, including more than 32,000 live sports events annually, a robust library of exclusive studio shows, on-demand replays, acclaimed original content, and more.

Unlimited Plan

$29.99 a month or $299.99 a year

Access to all of ESPN’s linear networks – ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, SECN, ACCN, ESPNEWS, ESPN Deportes – in addition to ESPN on ABC, ESPN+, ESPN3, SECN+, and ACCNX, covering 47,000 live events each year, on-demand replays, studio shows, original programming, and more.

There is also a special offer at launch that includes Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN unlimited for $29.99 for the first 12 months.

ESPN App

The new ESPN App will be enhanced and offer a more personalized, dynamic viewing experience for fans. Some of the new features will include updated multiview options, integrated game stats, betting information, fantasy sports and commerce, and also a personalized SC FOR YOU.

For those who already have an ESPN+ subscription, this will be turned into an ESPN Select Plan.
