The Little Mermaid To Be Screened At Egyptian Theatre with Filmmakers Ron Clements and John Musker Q&A

Seeing Disney movies on the big screen is great, and it’s even better when you get to see an animated classic. The Los Angeles Film Critics Association at the Egyptian Theatre will be hosting a screening of The Little Mermaid on Thursday, July 24.

This year, LAFCA celebrates its 50th anniversary. To honor this milestone, each film selected for this series in 2025 represents a unique choice made by the organization at its annual vote.  LAFCA has often chosen to highlight excellent titles that stand apart from the preordained front-runners of awards season.

LAFCA and the Egyptian Theatre will welcome Academy Award-nominated filmmakers Ron Clements and John Musker, who will appear for a Q&A moderated by LAFCA member Carlos Aguilar prior to a screening of their 1989 smash hit, The Little Mermaid. Clements and Musker received LAFCA’s inaugural award for Best Animation for the film, which was the first award of its kind for an animated feature among critics groups.

About The Little Mermaid

In Disney’s beguiling animated romp, rebellious 16-year-old mermaid Ariel is fascinated with life on land. On one of her visits to the surface, which are forbidden by her controlling father, King Triton, she falls for a human prince. Determined to be with her new love, Ariel makes a dangerous deal with the sea witch Ursula to become human for three days. But when plans go awry for the star-crossed lovers, the king must make the ultimate sacrifice for his daughter.

Tickets for this event are $15 for adults and $12 for seniors, children, students, and military. Tickets may be purchased through the Egyptian Theatre website.
