Lilo & Stitch continues on its quest to surpass $1 billion at the box office. Over the 4th of July weekend, the newest Disney live-action film has neared $975 million. This comes as Jurassic World: Rebirth took the top spot with $147 million domestically and took a global haul of $318 million.

Currently, Lilo & Stitch has earned $564.2 million internationally to bring it to $972.7 million globally. This helped it overtake A Minecraft Movie and its $954 million at the box office as this year’s most successful Hollywood film. However, this isn’t even close to the top movie of the year currently. Ne Zha 2, a film that came out of China, is the biggest movie of the year. It currently has garnered $1.8 billion.
While Lilo & Stitch isn’t the top movie globally of the year, it is still quite successful. Successful enough that Disney has decided to move forward with a sequel to the film. Disney hasn’t shared a timeline or plot for this next film yet, just the fact that Lilo & Stitch 2 is in development.
