Maestro of the Movies: Celebrating the Music of John Williams Coming to Hollywood Bowl in August

A Southern California tradition returns this August to the Hollywood Bowl, Maestro of the Movies: Celebrating the Music of John Williams will be presented for three days, August 22 – August 24, 2025. This will be three nights with the music of John Williams being performed by the Los Angeles Philharmonic. David Newman will be conducting the orchestra for these concerts.

In recent years, John Williams has conducted half of the concert after David Newman conducted the first half. However, the legendary composer/conductor appears to be backing away from conducting concerts now. Williams is now 93 years old. Here is a look at him conducting at this concert several years ago:

This year, the concert lineup will include the following pieces:

  • Suite From Far and Away
  • Sayuri’s Theme – Memoirs of a Geisha
  • Out to Sea/Shark Cage Fugue – Jaws
  • Three Million Miles From Home – E.T. The Extra Terrestrial
  • Superman March
  • Scherzo for Motorcycle and Orchestra – Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade
  • Helena’s Theme – Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny
  • Raider’s March – Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark
  • Dear Basketball
  • The Adventures of Han Solo: A Star Wars Story
  • Princess Leia’s Theme – Star Wars: A New Hope
  • Throne Room and Finale – Star Wars: A New Hope

A cherished Bowl tradition, the Los Angeles Philharmonic and conductor David Newman once again salute one of Hollywood’s living legends with three performances of John Williams: Maestro of the Movies, featuring some of Williams’ biggest hits and other beloved classics of the silver screen, including a selection of film clips on the Bowl’s big screens. So, fire up your lightsabers… and may the Force be with you!
