The Earl of Sandwich game of musical chairs at the Downtown Disney District at the Disneyland Resort continues, but it will soon be over. Currently, two locations can be visited by guests craving a sandwich or other offerings from the Earl of Sandwich at the Downtown Disney District. Soon, there will just be one Earl of Location at Downtown Disney District. Soon after that, there will be a different one.
The main location for the Earl of Sandwich, just off the Esplanade at Downtown Disney District, is set to close soon. According to the Orange County Register, the closing date will be July 26, 2025. Once it has closed, this location will be demolished to make way for the future Porto’s Bakery and Cafe.
Work is continuing on the permanent home of the Earl of Sandwich at the west end of the Downtown Disney District. This location is set to open this winter.
The new permanent Earl of Sandwich location will offer two dining options. It will have the traditional walk-up offering that fans know and love. It will also have The Carnaby Tavern upstairs. This will offer a table service experience for guests that is inspired by the ’60s “British Invasion” pop and rock bands from the U.K. There will be both indoor seating and patio seating, along with an indoor/outdoor full-service bar. Here is concept art of what this new location will look like:
Between the closing of the larger Earl of Sandwich on the Esplanade end of Earl of Sandwich and the opening of the permanent location at the other end of the Downtown Disney District, the temporary Earl of Sandwich near Star Wars Trading Post will continue to serve guests who are craving its menu.
