On this day in 1995, the soundtrack and score for ‘Pocahontas’ was released on CD and cassette by Walt Disney Records. The project marked the first partnership of composer Alan Menken with lyricist Stephen Schwartz after Howard Ashman’s passing. ‘Pocahontas’ would go on to win an Academy Award for Best Original Score. Its anthem “Colors of the Wind” also won an Academy Award for Best Original Song as well as a Golden Globe and a Grammy. [30 years ago in 2025]
