Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa lobby is getting a makeover. The renovation of the lobby is the culmination of a multi-year refurbishment of the entire resort. This resort is a celebration of the golden age of travel and Florida’s lavish seaside hotels. This resort is known for its unique theming and Disney hospitality. These are things that Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa will continue to embrace with this renovation.
Grand Floridian Lobby Bar
The renovation of the lobby will see some additions while also keeping some fan-favorite offerings. First off, there will be the addition of a new bar in the lobby. When the renovation is complete, guests will be able to enjoy the new Grand Floridian Lobby Bar . This bar is described as follows:
Inspired by the lobby’s iconic birdcage, the bar will pay tribute to the resort’s Victorian roots with intricate woodwork, stained glass, and brass accents. You may even spot colorful birds in the stained glass and murals throughout the atrium! Opposite the bar, guests will still find the Victorian cage-style elevator that fans know and love.
For those worried about too much change, Disney has shared that the piano will still offer beautiful music in the lobby, and the Victorian cage-style elevator will also still be at the resort after the renovation.
Legacy Grounded Updates
The lobby, staircase, and front desk will all get refreshed. Guests will see a mix of botanical accents accompanied by inviting color to create an airy, garden-like atmosphere when they enter the resort.
The approach that Imagineers are taking to this refurbishment is one of great care and focus. They aim to maintain the heart and story of the Grand Floridian. At the same time, they hope to add fresh new life to the lobby.
Concept art for the new lobby was released today. It shows that there will be beautiful new carpeting that features Victorian-inspired borders and scrollwork will feature hand-drawn floras that are inspired by turn-of-the-century botanical studies. There will also be updated furnishings that will blend rich finishes and brass accents with cozy, welcoming fabrics. There will also be some playful touches found that are inspired by Florida’s natural beauty and Victorian decorating trends.

Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa is one of over 25 Disney Resort hotels found throughout the Walt Disney World Resort. This beautiful resort sits along the Seven Seas Lagoon and offers beautiful views both day and night of the Magic Kingdom. This Victorian-themed resort opened in 1988. It is recognized as one of Disney’s most luxurious resorts. During the renovation of the resort, rooms were enhanced, dining experiences refreshed (including the Michelin star-awarded Victoria & Albert’s, Cítricos, Narcoossee’s and 1900 Park Fare), and more upgrades were added.
