Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith had an impressive, most impressive, weekend at the box office. It was tracking to earn somewhere between $21-$23 million over the course of its weekend. Instead, the film ended up earning $25.2 million from its 2,775 locations where it was featured. Internationally, it also pulled in a solid $17 million. In total, it earned $42 million globally. This saw it passing up Accountants 2, which earned $24.5 million from 3,610 cinemas.

The re-release of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith has been a very successful thing for Lucasfilm. The movie returned to theaters again this weekend, 20 years after it first debuted. Its arrival also was after Star Wars Celebration Japan last week, where Hayden Christensen announced that he will be reprising his role as Anakin Skywalker in the second season of Ahsoka.
Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith is having the strongest re-release in theaters for any of the Star Wars films since Disney purchased Lucasfilm. It has also surpassed the 1997 re-release opening of Return of the Jedi ($16.2 million) and Empire Strikes Back ($21.9 million).

The re-release of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith comes a year ahead of the arrival of The Mandalorian & Grogu. On Disney+, the first three episodes of the second season of Andor dropped this week as well. On top of that, Ahsoka season 2 began filming this week. There are lots of things to be excited about for Star Wars fans, which undoubtedly helped this re-release.
