The thoughts behind future changes were shared by the Oriental Land Company in this strategic plan. It basically aims for Tokyo Disney Resort to “Provide moving experiences and surprises that cannot be found anywhere else in the world through development unique to Tokyo Disney Resort.” This is detailed with ways that this can be done, including wanting to “constantly enhance the appeal of our theme parks by redesigning attractions and entertainment programs.” The OLC also says that it wants to proactively “generate facilities and services that lead to offering new experience(s).” It also says that the company wants to expand its fan base and strengthen its appeal with overseas guests.

Concept art was shown for what could be the future of Port Discovery at Tokyo DisneySea. Eagle-eyed fans who are familiar with this area of Tokyo Disney Resort’s second park will most likely notice some differences that could be a part of the future. In contrast to the Adventureland concept art, which seems to be missing quite a few attractions, this concept art is only missing Aquatopia.

Looking closer at the concept art, it appears that Port Discovery will be expanded. Tokyo DisneySea Electric Railway, Tokyo DisneySea Transit Steamer, and Nemo & Friends SeaRider are all still seen in the concept art. There also appears to be a new show building and a new turnaround for the DisneySea Transit Steamer Line. Check out the concept art here:

The concept art doesn’t provide a ton of details for what is coming in the future for Port Discovery. The new show building could block the current path that the DisneySea Transit Steamer Line, necessitating the turnaround. However, it might not. The nature of concept art is exactly that. It is a collection of concepts and ideas put on paper for what the future could look like. In this case, it’s the future of a part of Tokyo DisneySea in the next ten years. Things could change with new ideas, budgets, economy, or other factors.
