On this day in 2012, Carnation Plaza Gardens held its last operating day at Disneyland, with many fans in attendance. Plaza Gardens opened in 1956 and soon became known as the home of Date Night at Disneyland. Teens and young adults flocked to the parks every night in the summers to dance to big-name Big Bands, including Count Basie, Duke Ellington, and Benny Goodman. During the day, the space was used for school concerts and character shows.
