On this day in 1965, the shareholders of Walt Disney Productions approved the acquisition of WED Enterprises. WED Enterprises, what we know today as Walt Disney Imagineering, was formed by Walt in 1952 and was responsible for the engineering and design of Disneyland. The company was owned by Walt himself in those first years. The sale took place because of WED’s growing importance in the mid-1960s and to avoid a conflict of interest. [60 years ago in 2025]
