It had now been nearly five years since Disneyland had added a new attraction. For 1974, the first generation Imagineers that were still with the company turned to the Carousel of Progress building in Tomorrowland to create America Sings, a musical tribute to 200 years of American music. (Although America’s actual bicentennial was still two years away!)
