On this day in 1930, the first Mickey Mouse comic strip was published in the New York Mirror. The early editions were written by Walt Disney and drawn by Ub Iwerks. Floyd Gottfredson took over in May 1930 and continued for 45 years! By 1931, the Mickey comics ran in 60 U.S. newspapers, plus in 20 more countries across the world. The comic strips brought Mickey Mouse into families’ homes daily and contributed to his popularity around the globe. [95 years ago in 2025]
