This last weekend, the Disneyland Resort came to life as it celebrated the traditional story of Christmas with its annual Candlelight Processional. Since the 1950s, different iterations of this event have been a tradition at Disneyland. The current version of the processional includes a mass choir, orchestra, handbells, fanfare trumpeters, a guitar player, soloists, and a celebrity narrator. They all come together to tell the story of Christmas in a beautiful and magical way. This event takes over Town Square on Main Street, USA with a massive stage erected on the front of Main Street Station.
An Animated Narrator
This year, the celebrity narrator was Kathryn Hahn. Hahn, who recently starred in Agatha All Along, brought her animated and expressive talents to the podium as she read the story of Christmas. On Sunday night at the final ceremony, she said, “I am buzzing from the last couple of days, you’re incredible. It’s been very very moving.”
The weekend of performances was a moving one. The weather was perfect with the moon and stars often being seen above the processional. Finally, during the second show on Sunday night, some clouds began to roll in. This created a cozy feel for those in attendance. Throughout the weekend, the Daps Magic team was on hand to capture the first performances on Saturday and Sunday night. The photos and videos from Saturday night can be seen here. The Final Performance
For the second performance on Sunday night, the Disneyland Resort invited Daps Magic to experience the Candlelight Processional as guests. This led to a different perspective of the performance. While the team did not record the entire performance, below is a look at Kathryn Hahn’s final words and photos that were taken throughout the show.
The Candlelight Processional is a beautiful tradition at the Disneyland Resort. Seats are invite-only. Daps Magic was honored to be invited to attend.
