On this day in 2004, ‘National Treasure’ was released in theaters. The action adventure film stars Nicholas Cage as Benjamin Franklin Gates, a treasure hunter of early American artifacts. A mysterious code on the back of the Declaration of Independence sets off a quest of epic proportions for Gates and his associates. Most of the historical locations were filmed on site, except for Independence Hall, which was shot at the Knott’s Berry Farm replica. [20 years ago in 2024]
