Next week the west end of the Disneyland main gate will close to begin the process of replacing turnstiles at the entrance to The Happiest Place on Earth! This will continue the process of modernizing the entrance process to create a more efficient and pleasant experience for guests visiting the Disneyland Resort parks. The entire project is expected to continue through the end of the year and be completed at some point in 2025.
Ahead of the replacement of the entrance gates at Disneyland, turnstiles have returned on the west end of Disney California Adventure’s entrance. These turnstiles originally appeared at Disney California Adventure earlier this year for testing. At the time, Kevin Gidden, General Manager Arrival Experience said, “We continue to invest in the overall guest experience, and our updated, enhanced entry gates will really elevate the process of arriving at our theme parks. The test entry gate installed at Disney California Adventure Park will enable our teams to get hands-on experience that will help inform the final install beginning later this year.”
Daps Magic team member Steven visited Disney California Adventure earlier this week and took the following photos of the turnstiles:
When the project is completed in 2025, all of the new entrance gates will be ADA-compliant. ECVs, wheelchairs, and strollers will be able to enter through any entry gate into the parks at the Disneyland Resort. These gates will be found at the main entrances of the two theme parks, hotels, monorail and also Downtown Disney District.
The gates will open automatically after a Guest scans their ticket and takes a photo. There will be one cast member at each entry gate to validate tickets and photos along with welcoming guests as they enter the parks. These updated entry gates will also have an access point for Guests to tap their MagicBand+.
The return of the turnstile comes about a week before the replacement process begins in earnest at Disneyland’s entrance. In recent months, trees have been moved with new planters being placed around them to mitigate their effects on lines into Disneyland.
Daps Magic will continue to monitor the progress being made on the entrance to Disneyland and Disney California Adventure and provide updates as they become available.
