On this day in 1984, “The First Disney Studio” was dedicated in its new location at the Stanley Ranch Museum in Garden Grove, Calif. The structure was originally a garage belonging to Walt Disney’s uncle Robert. Walt paid $1 per month to rent the space after he moved to Hollywood in 1923. Not long after, he and Roy would set up shop on Kingswell Avenue. Disney fans saved the garage from demolition in 1981 and had it moved to the museum. [40 years ago in 2024]
