The Disneyland Railroad is currently being refurbished. This is something that happens on a fairly consistent basis to keep the train continuing to steam around The Happiest Place on Earth. While the train isn’t taking guests around the park right now, there are engineers on hand to show how it works at the Mickey’s Toontown station. While they share about how steam trains work, work is chugging along on the Disneyland Railroad itself. It appears that this work is on the railroad (do they sing the song while working on the railroad? We don’t know!).
On Monday night, Daps Magic stopped by Disneyland for a magical evening. While going for a drive on an Autopia car, some of the updates that are being worked on for the trains could be seen. This appears to involve removing the track and presumably working on the train bed as well. This is a fairly common for any train. Much of the maintenance can be done on a regular basis without taking the train off the line. However, most trains generally need to have their ballast repacked for the train bed. It is quite possible that this is what is worked on (yes, we love trains here!). While this is being done, it would also make sense that any track that was showing signs of wear could be replaced, among other maintenance jobs that might need to be handled. Below are a look at the views of the progress that is being made on the Disneyland Railroad from Autopia. As can be seen in the photos, the track has been removed along this part of the line.
The Disneyland Railroad also is apparently being worked on in the area near it’s a small world and the Mickey’s Toontown bridge.
The Disneyland Railroad is an iconic attraction at The Happiest Place on Earth. There are five engines that currently make up the railroad. They include the following engines:
- C.K. Holliday
- E.P. Ripley
- Ernest Marsh
- Fred Gurley
- Ward Kimball
Four of the five engines were named after American locomotive legends. The one exception is Ward Kimball, the Disney Animator who originally inspired Walt Disney’s passion for trains. At this point, an official opening date has not been announced by the Disneyland Resort.
