Since being announced at the D23 Expo in 2022, fans have been eagerly awaiting for the arrival of Porto’s at Downtown Disney District at the Disneyland Resort. While the location for where it will end up has been known, the timeline has not. Now it appears that things are beginning to move forward on this project.
Porto’s officials have confirmed that work will begin in 2025 on the Downtown Disney District location. This will lead to Earl of Sandwich leaving the location it is currently at on the east end of Downtown Disney near the Esplanade. This is where La Brea Bakery once was found. It has also been the temporary location of Earl of Sandwich.
A second temporary location for the sandwich shop is already open on the west end of Downtown Disney District. It opened in July after being installed earlier in the year. This pop-up is next to the Star Wars Trading Post. The longer-term goal is a permanent location for Earl of Sandwich that is two stories tall. This location will be near the performance lawn and offer both a quick service option and a sit-down option in the form of the Earl of Sandwich Tavern restaurant and upstairs bar.
There are still questions regarding Porto’s as other locations are closed or closed early for Easter, Thanksgiving, and the Christmas holiday seasons. It is unknown if the Porto’s in Downtown Disney District will be following the trend of other Porto’s or one more in line with the Disney calendar.
