The Acolyte

‘The Acolyte’ Has Strongest Disney+ Premiere in 2024

Disney has announced that The Acolyte has had the strongest premiere on Disney+ of any program this year. Initially, the series premiered with 4.8 million views in the first 24 hours. However, that was just the start of it. This new Star Wars series premiere episode continued to gather views and reached 11.1 million views* globally, based on five days of streaming.

The Acolyte is set during the High Republic Era, or about one hundred years before the events in Star Wars: The Phantom Menace. When a shocking crime spree happens and a Jedi is murdered, the investigation leads a respected Jedi master to an adversary that is a dangerous warrior from his past. The first episode of this series gets right into things with action and mystery right off the bat.

“I was very interested in telling a story about the Sith,” Leslye Headland, creator and executive producer of The Acolytesaid. “The logical conclusion would be to set this show in a time period where the Sith are the underdogs.”

Created and executive produced by Headland, The Acolyte stars Lee Jung-jae, Amandla Stenberg, Charlie Barnett, Manny Jacinto, Jodie Turner-Smith, and Carrie-Anne Moss.

The Acolyte had its first two episodes released on June 4, 2024, with a new episode now being released every Tuesday through July 16, 2024.
