Fire of the Rising Moons with Bard

VIDEO: Droid Joins ‘Fire of the Rising Moons’ Star Wars Fireworks in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge

Over the weekend, Fire of the Rising Moons received an addition. This Star Wars show, which is offered on select nights, saw a new droid added to the experience. The droid is found on the platform above the Millennium Falcon and periodically moves throughout the day. It then becomes a part of the introduction to the fireworks when it begins. The droid helps an old storyteller, named Tohan Lege, introduce the celebration and also inspire those in attendance to raise their lights. The droid is named Bard and is an R1 series astromech droid.

During the opening weekend, Daps Magic team member Doug stopped by Black Spire Outpost to film Fire of the Rising Moons with the addition of Bard. Below is a look at the updated fireworks show. Note, this will continue to be offered after Season of the Force ends on June 2nd. It is offered on nights when fireworks are presented in the park. If it is only projections, there will be no Fire of the Rising Moons.

Disney has shared more about the backstory of Tohan Lege. Here is what is said about this storyteller here:

Introducing the celebration is Tohan Lege, the storyteller known as the Lore-weaver. Pursued by those in power who would silence his voice, Tohan adopted Black Spire as his home and wrote of its colorful history and the fiery spirit at its heart. His droid, who he fondly called Bard, allows us to hear the Lore-weaver in his own words, each night as Black Spire celebrates the Fire of the Rising Moons.

He met and spoke to anyone he could, and began to record its history. To ensure that the stories would endure, Tohan found an old astromech droid left behind at the Depot. The mechanics helped him get it working with scrap parts and luck. Tohan called the droid Bard, and together they recorded the Lore-weaver’s stories, until there were no more to tell.

Fire of the Rising Moons is able to be seen at the Black Spire Spaceport (near Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run), the TIE Echelon docking platform (near First Order Cargo) and the speeder garage (near Droid Depot) in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. Bard, however, can only be seen by those who are in the Black Spire Spaceport area. This is generally the most popular place to watch the Star Wars fireworks from by guests. The other two locations also are really good places to watch as well though.
