Disney has revealed a beautiful first look at the new drone show that is coming to Disney Springs on May 24th. This new show will be presented twice nightly and include scores from favorite Disney soundtracks. It will also have a new song that was written exclusively for this show. On top of that, there will also be moments from Peter Pan, Dumbo, Wall-E, Big Hero 6, Star Wars and more. The show will be just under 10 minutes long. Currently, it is being tested off-site ahead of its arrival at Disney Springs. Disney shared some looks from these offsite rehearsals at what Disney Dreams That Soar will look like.
“We are presenting Disney characters who have had a dream of flying. Not just the idea that they can fly, but the idea of taking their lives to the next level.” said Show Director, Tony Giordano. “We put a lot of thought in making sure that no matter how old you are, or how much of a fan you are, you’re going to see a character that you love.”
The show comes to life thanks to the collaborative efforts of 800 drones. They work together to create scenes and icons from favorite Disney stories. This includes the inflation, transformation, and disappearance of Baymax from Big Hero 6. This will see the character grow to a size bigger than Spaceship Earth!
“We were given the assignment to create an experience where you want to just hold the hand of the person next to you,” said Tony. “That’s always echoing in my mind as we work on this show.”
Disney shares that music will play a crucial role in the show. In a post on the Disney Parks Blog, it was shared that “Disney Dreams That Soar features well-known and beloved soundtracks in addition to an original song that will inspire you to follow your heart, take a leap of faith, and reach for the stars.”
Disney also shared that there is an ideal place to watch this new show. It will be best seen from the waterway in the Disney Springs West Side. It promises to give a lovely kiss goodnight to guests visiting Disney Springs this summer. Disney also says to look out for Tony and say hi!
“I can’t wait to stand next to the guests and hear their reactions. That’s my favorite part of building any show because those reactions are why we do what we do. We want them to actually experience magic, and when you see all these drones, to me, you get to see real magic!”
