Pirates of the Caribbean

Genie+ Coming to Disneyland’s Pirates of the Caribbean

Disneyland’s Pirates of the Caribbean attraction will be temporarily getting Genie+/Lightning Line this winter. Starting on January 22nd, the attraction will be getting the service. This comes as attractions in the area undergo refurbishment. The area will also see the expansion of the grounds around Haunted Mansion as well this year. While the service is temporary, it isn’t known at this time how long temporary will be.

The Pirates of the Caribbean attraction opened at Disneyland in 1967. It was the last attraction that was envisioned and personally overseen by Walt Disney before he passed. The attraction would open three months after his death on March 18, 1967. For over 50 years, it has been taking guests on adventures as they splash down into the world of swashbuckling pirates…and what is left of them. This attraction led to other iterations of the ride around the world. It also led to the popular Pirates of the Caribbean movie franchise.

2024 will be an exciting year for the New Orleans Square area. Currently Splash Mountain is being transformed into Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. This new attraction will take guests on an all new adventure with Tiana and friends. The attraction is set to open in 2024. The Haunted Mansion will also be seeing a substantial expansion to its queue along with a new gift shop themed to Madame Leota at the exit. This refurbishment will see the Haunted Mansion closed for a longer period than normal after the holidays. The closure of these two attractions leaves Pirates of the Caribbean as the only E-Ticket attraction in the area.
