The Walt Disney Company will be hosting a company-wide town hall on November 28, 2023. According to an internal memo by Disney CEO Bob Iger, the meeting will discuss future projects. This meeting comes one year after Bob Iger hosted a company-wide meeting one year ago after returning to the role of CEO.
The meeting will have film division head Alan Bergman, parks chief Josh D’Amaro, ESPN’s Jimmy Pitaro, and Dana Walden, who leads the television business in attendance. The event will be moderated ABC News anchor David Muir. According to the memo sent to staff, the meeting will focus on “future building opportunities.”
The meeting comes as Disney is facing a changing media landscape. Traditional linear media is facing declining revenue and the company is figuring out how to transition to a world of streaming media. Iger has said that it is exploring options for how to face these challenges. This could include selling some or all of the linear channels. The company is also actively seeking partners for ESPN, although Disney intends to retain control of its sports company.
Disney is facing more challenges than just the performances of its linear media. Activist investor Nelson Peltz has been adding to his investments to boost its stake in the company. It is widely believed that he is seeking one or more seats on the Disney board.
