The Walt Disney Company has released a statement on the future of its linear businesses. This comes as media reports continue to speculate on the future of what Disney will do with its linear businesses, potentially selling them. At this point, Disney has not made any sort of a decision on the future of these businesses. The following statment was released today by the company on the issue:
“While we are open to considering a variety of strategic options for our linear businesses, at this time The Walt Disney Company has made no decision with respect to the divestiture of ABC or any other property and any report to that effect is unfounded.”
If the company were to sell any of its linear businesses, expect there to be a full roll out by Disney. Generally this would include an interview with Disney CEO Bob Iger along with a press release through its official channels and spokespeople.
