Voyage of The Little Mermaid was a show that could be seen at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. This show opened in 1992 and continued until 2020 in the Animation Courtyard. It closed when Walt Disney World Resort closed down and then never reopened when the parks did after the pandemic.
The show was a shorter version of the animated classic The Little Mermaid. It sped through some elements of the story with montages and then other portions of the story were brought to life with live actors and puppets. It included voice actors Pat Carroll as Ursula, Jess Harnell (initially Samuel E. Wright) as Sebastian, Corey Burton (initially Kenneth Mars) as King Triton, Edan Gross as Flounder, Paddi Edwards as Flotsam and Jetsam, and Frank Welker as Max the Sheepdog. Wright, Carroll, Mars, Edwards, and Welker all reprised their roles from The Little Mermaid animated film.
The full show can be seen in the video that was shot by the Daps Magic team here:
Voyage of The Little Mermaid was a fun little show that brought the magic of the animated classic to life. While it might not have been the greatest show that Disney has ever presented, it still was magical and charming.
