On Friday, September 8, 2023, General Hera Syndulla made her first appearance at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland. With her, the fiesty droid named Chopper. The duo departed the Ghost to take a stroll around Black Spire Outpost on Batuu. About one hundred people waited in the area they hoped where the two would appear. In the middle of the afternoon, this did indeed happen. As she walked around the corner and into the area, she appeared to be having a radio conversation with someone. The crowd began to cheer as she continued into Black Spire outpost with Chopper in tow. Their arrival at Disneyland had been announced earlier in the day on Disney and Star Wars social media channels.
The Daps Magic team was on hand to capture the first moments that Hera and Chopper arrived. Below are video and photos of her first appearance at Disneyland. The duo will be appearing in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge for a limited time.
About General Hera Syndulla
Hera Syndulla was a Twi’lek female revolutionary leader who became a central figure in the early rebellion against the Galactic Empire and the formation of the Alliance to Restore the Republic. She was born in 29 BBY on the planet Ryloth, home world of the Twi’lek species. Her father, Cham Syndulla, was a general in the Free Ryloth movement during the Clone Wars. Hera saw firsthand the devastation of the war and the reign of the Empire on her homeworld.
Hera became an expert pilot and left her homeworld and her father’s planetary resistance behind, setting off across the galaxy to build her own resistance movement against the Empire aboard her starship, the Ghost. She gathered a crew of rebels, including Kanan Jarrus, a Jedi Knight; Sabine Wren, a Mandalorian warrior; Ezra Bridger, a young Force-sensitive orphan; and Garazeb “Zeb” Orrelios, a Lasat warrior.
The Ghost crew became known as the Spectres, and they carried out daring missions against the Empire. They helped to free Lothal from Imperial occupation, and they played a key role in the Battle of Scarif and the Battle of Endor.
After the fall of the Empire, Hera continued to fight for freedom and justice. She became a general in the New Republic, and she oversaw the Barma Battle Group, which included Alphabet Squadron. She also participated in the Empire’s final defeat at the Battle of Jakku. Hera can currently be seen in episodes of Ahsoka on Disney+.
About Chopper
Chopper, also known as C1-10P, is a C1-series astromech droid who is a main character in the Star Wars Rebels television series. He is a member of the Spectres, a rebel cell led by Hera Syndulla and the Jedi Kanan Jarrus that fought against the Galactic Empire. He is responsible for maintaining the Ghost, a modified VCX-100 light freighter which serves as the rebel cell’s main base of operations. During his time with the crew of the Ghost, Chopper took part in numerous raids and missions against Imperial targets.
Chopper was manufactured by Industrial Automaton and was active during the Clone Wars and the early years of the Galactic Empire. He was originally a Republic astromech droid, but he was damaged during the Battle of Ryloth and was found by Hera Syndulla, who was just a child at the time. Hera repaired Chopper and took him with her when she left Ryloth to join the rebellion.
Chopper is a grumpy and independent droid who is not afraid to speak his mind. He is also very resourceful and clever, and he often comes up with ingenious ways to help the Spectres on their missions. However, he can also be destructive and mischievous, and he has been known to get the crew into trouble on more than one occasion.
Despite his flaws, Chopper is a loyal and valuable member of the Spectres. He is always willing to put his life on the line for his friends, and he has saved their lives on many occasions. He is also a valuable asset in the fight against the Empire, and he has played a key role in many of the Spectres’ victories. Chopper can also be seen currently on Ahsoka on Disney+.
More Star Wars Characters at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge
General Hera Syndulla and Chopper will both be appearing at Disneyland’ Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge for a limited time. How long of a time a limited time is currently is not known. Ahsoka Tano is currently also meeting in the land along with Mando & Grogu, Boba Fett, and Fennec Shand. All of these Star Wars characters were seen in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge before the arrival of Hera and Chopper!
