Spirited, a modern retelling of A Christmas Carol is heading to theaters. The theatrical run will be a sing-along version of the film that stars Ryan Reynolds, Will Ferrell, and Octavia Spencer. The film will be in 100+ theaters starting on Friday, December 16, 2023. The arrival of the sing-along version of Spirited comes as speculation mounts about some of its songs being contenders for Best Original Songs at the Oscars. The sing-along version is already being offered in the UK where it arrived on December 10th in theaters.
The songs for Spirited were written by Oscar, Grammy and Tony winners Benj Pasek and Justin Paul. These two also collaborated on La La Land, Dear Evan Hansen, and The Greatest Showman. The sing-along version of Spirited is being presented by stylized lyrics on screen that are highlighted for singers to follow along.

Spirited is directed by Sean Anders. The sing-along will be presented in Cinemark and Megaplex theaters as well as other independent and regional exhibitors. It is possible that more chains will pick up this release at a later date. An end for this run has not been announced. The original version of the film is still showing in some theaters currently. It also is streaming on Apple TV+.
