James Cameron Talks Possibility of Avatar Flight of Passage Update for Disney’s Animal Kingdom

As James Cameron is making the rounds ahead of the arrival of Avatar: The Way of Water in theaters, he has been answering a lot of questions about the movie and a few other topics. One of these topics turned to questions about possibilities for Pandora – The World of Avatar at Disney’s Animal Kingdom at the Walt Disney World Resort.

During an interview with Variety about the movie, Cameron was asked about the possibility of a water ride being added to the land to tie in with the movie. While he didn’t specifically answer the question about a water ride, he did mention the main attraction of the land.

“When Bob Iger came back a couple weeks ago, I did send him an email and say, ‘You know, we can do “Avatar 2” and 3 motifs and put them into the physical hardware of “Avatar Flight of Passage” [a ride in which visitors can experience flying on a banshee],’” he reveals. “He liked that idea. So nothing has been decided. But, you know, we would like to carry that along and update it from time to time with things that flow back out of the new movies. Because I think there’s a good synergy between the physical base where you can go and just kind of meditate and be on Pandora and how the movies progress the story and bring in new imagery.”

At this point, Disney has not made any announcements about changes coming to any of the attractions at Pandora – The World of Avatar in conjunction with the arrival Avatar: The Way of Water. However, there is always the possibility of the future seeing updates to the land and its attractions.

What do you think of the possibility of an update coming to Avatar Flight of Passage to connect with this next movie? Would you like to see the attraction updated to connect with Avatar: The Way of Water or other future Avatar movies? Share your thoughts and opinions in the comments below.
