As part of EPCOT’s 40th Anniversary celebration, a new Beacon of Magic debuted specifically for the milestone. This VERY limited Beacon of Magic celebrates four decades of possibility with iconic music and magical light on and around Spaceship Earth. The show moment debuted at around 7:30 PM on October 1st to a very packed entrance plaza in front of Spaceship Earth. Disney fans from around the world came together for a special moment celebrating EPCOT as many favorite musical themes were played and Spaceship Earth came to life in front of them. To say it was magical would be an understatement. It was a perfect end to a day that celebrated EPCOT.
The Beacon of Magic included music from different eras of EPCOT. This included:
- Tapestry of Nations
- Let’s Listen to the Land
- New Horizons
- One Little Spark
- We Go On
As the show came to its conclusion, Walt Disney’s EPCOT speech was played and Walt said “We call it EPCOT!”
The Beacon of Magic ended a day that included EPCOT 40th Anniversary Merchandise, a D23 Expo, and a special ceremony at America Gardens in the American Pavilion. The original entrance area music was played throughout the day in front of Spaceship Earth.
