As Hurricane Ian bears down on Florida, questions continue to mount about the status of travel to both Walt Disney World Resort and also for those traveling with the Disney Cruise Line. As this one-in-a-lifetime storm approaches Florida, Walt Disney World has provided operational updates that involve some minor closings but the theme parks and Disney Springs currently are remaining open. The Disney Cruise Line has also provided an update on its website.
In short, the Disney Cruise Line expects to continue cruising and with the potential of a delay for the Disney Wish could be delayed on its return on Friday, September 30, 2022. The following update was posted on Monday night on the Disney Cruise Line website:
Tropical Weather UpdateAs of September 26, at 9:00 p.m.
We have been closely monitoring Hurricane Ian. Based on the current projected forecast, we anticipate that the Disney Wish, Disney Fantasy and Disney Dream will sail as scheduled. However, there is a possibility that the Disney Wish will return to Port Canaveral on Friday, September 30, later than originally scheduled. We will notify Guests should it be necessary to delay embarkation for the September 30 Disney Wish sailing.
Hurricane Ian is tracking to hit Florida in the Tampa Bay area. A big concern for the area is storm surge. Currently, a storm surge warning is in effect for the area. The Disney Cruise Line does not have any ports of call in that area of Florida. The Disney Wish makes Port Canaveral its home port currently. Guests aboard the Wish have been notified that it is possible that they may return to Port Canaveral later on Friday, already.
At this time, there are no more updates or modifications to the schedule of the Disney Cruise Line fleet. Daps Magic will continue to follow this story and provide updates as they become available.
