New Star Wars Characters Coming to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland

Starting on May 28, 2022, new Star Wars characters will come to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland. The announcement was made during the From a Galaxy Far, Far Away to a Disney Park Near You panel at Star Wars Celebration on May 27th. Portfolio Creative Executive at Walt Disney Imagineering Scott Trowbridge, his fellow Imagineers, and Lucasfilm colleagues were all a part of the panel that led to this announcement.

At Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland Park in Anaheim, Calif., guests exploring the outskirts of Black Spire Outpost may encounter the legendary bounty hunter Boba Fett or the highly skilled mercenary Fennec Shand, as they attempt to remain in the shadows on the planet Batuu. The first new characters coming to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will be Boba Fett and mercenary Fennec Shand. They will be found attempting to remain in the shadows around Black Spire outpost at the Disneyland Resort.

However, Boba Fett and Fennec Shand aren’t the only new Star Wars characters coming to Black Spire outpost. In the future more Star Wars characters will make appearances. Din Djarin, known as the Mandalorian, and Grogu, who is affectionately known as “baby Yoda,” will be arriving at Disneyland. Both appeared together in the first two seasons of The Mandalorian and then again in The Book of Boba Fett.

In a release, Disney shared about the new characters coming to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland.

Since Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge opened in 2019, Star Wars storytelling has experienced a galactic expansion to include many new characters and stories across a wide range of settings. Now, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is likewise expanding the stories guests can encounter when visiting. Having been designed from the outset to connect with a broad range of Star Wars storytelling, Black Spire Outpost has played a role in many of these stories stretching over thousands of years and while, up to now, those story connections have been shared through media and publishing, soon visitors to Batuu will have an opportunity to connect with those fan-favorite stories with the immersive detail and authenticity that Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge was designed to deliver.

At this time, the new Star Wars characters are only coming to Disneyland’s version of the land. Walt Disney World’s Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will not be getting any new character arrivals.
