Marvel’s Halloween Special to Be Directed By Composer Michael Giacchino

Michael Giacchino has built quite a reputation for himself composing scores for many iconic films. This includes recent Star Trek films, The Incredibles, Up, Star Wars: Rogue One, the MCU Spider-Man films, Doctor Strange, and many others. However, soon he won’t be only known for the music he creates. According to the Hollywood Reporter, one of his upcoming projects will be to helm Marvel’s upcoming Halloween special.

Not a whole lot is known about this special. It is believed that it might be focused on Werewolf by Night, who happens to have first appeared in a comic with Moon Knight. At this time, only Gael Garcia Bernal and Laura Donnelly are known to be part of the cast. This special will begin shooting later this month and will be one hour long. Its release this fall will be followed by a Guardians of a Galaxy holiday special.

This isn’t the first time that Giacchino has sat in the director’s chair. In 2018, he wrote, directed, and also scored Monster Challenge, a short film. He also directed a Star Trek short in 2019. At this point, it isn’t known if Giacchino will be scoring the Halloween special as well.

The character of Werewolf by Night was most known by fans as Jack Russell. However, a more recent version of the character had the Werewolf as a teenager named Jake Gomez. His transformations were based on his emotional state. He found that he could use music to control this. Having Giacchino a part of this project makes sense if this version of the character is to be the focus of the special. Only time will tell where this special will end up going!
