In another step towards normalcy, the Patriotic Flag Retreat at Disneyland saw the Dapper Dans returning to join the Disneyland Band on Presidents’ Day. This day also saw veterans from the United States of America armed forces returning to the flag and being honored in this daily ceremony.
The ceremony looked a little different than it did before the pandemic. The Disneyland Band and Dapper Dans now joined the ceremony from the street and stairs in front of Main Street Station. The Disneyland Resort Security honor guard stood off to the side for the first part of the ceremony before moving to the center to lower the flag. However, there were some similarities. During Armed Forces Medley, veterans were again invited to come to stand around the flag and be honored and thanked.
The DAPS MAGIC team was on hand to film the flag retreat with two cameras to give a full view of this special moment. The order of the ceremony was basically the same as it has been in recent years. The main difference was the Disneyland Band, Dapper Dans, and Disneyland Resort Security Honor Guard all marched down Main Street, USA, and arrived in Town Square together.
The Patriotic Flag Retreat is a beloved daily tradition at the Disneyland Resort. It isn’t just about lowering the Town Square flag, it is also about showing gratitude to those who have sacrificed and served the United States of America in the armed forces. It is something beautiful that is worth checking out at Disneyland.
