Disney’s Grand Californian Villas to Reopen for Disney Vacation Club Guests on December 6

While Downtown Disney District has begun a phased reopening since Summer, many parts of the Disneyland Resort stay closed. Most notably, Disneyland and Disney California Adventure Park cannot operate in their normal capacity. This morning, it was announced that Disney’s Grand Californian Villas would reopen to Disney Vacation Club Members, making it the first Disneyland Resort hotel to reopen!

The Disneyland Hotel, Paradise Pier Hotel, and Disney’s Grand California Hotel & Spa all closed in March due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Without most of the Disneyland Resort open, there hasn’t been much of a reason to reopen the three hotels on the resort property. While it is unclear why they are now choosing to reopen the villas, I hope that this leads to a reopening of the hotel as a whole!

When the Villas reopen to Disney Vacation Club members on December 6, the rest of the hotel will be closed. This means that guests will most likely not be able to grab a bite at GCH Craftsman Bar & Grill or enjoy a massage at the spas. This will be to keep cast members working at the resort safe as they care for guests visiting.

Disney Vacation Club said that they would further elaborate on what a visit to Disney’s Grand Californian Villas would look like so be sure to keep your eyes and ears open! When Disney sends out that message to DVC members, they will also be sending out reservation availability to get ready! This could be the perfect staycation!
