Sam Neil, Laura Dern, and Jeff Goldblum are returning to their original Jurassic Park roles in the newest Jurassic World film. Their appearance in Jurassic World: Dominion won’t just be cameos Neil revealed in a recent interview. In an interview with Yahoo Movies UK, Sam Neil shared a bit about their involvement, which is more than initially expected.
“We’re all the way through the film, Jeff [Goldblum], and me, and Laura [Dern]” Neill tells Yahoo Movies UK. He does admit he “probably won’t be running quite as fast as I was 27 years ago!”
Sam Neil last appeared in 2001’s Jurassic World III. Neil, Goldblum, and Dern originally starred together in 1993’s Jurassic Park. In Jurassic World: Dominion, the trio will be joining Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard in a new dino-sized adventure. While Goldblum did have a small role in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, this will be the first time that Neil and Dern join the Jurassic World trilogy.
Currently, the cast is in quarantine and Neil is hoping to join them soon as shooting begins on the movie. During shooting, the entire cast will be quarantined together. “We’re all going to be living in the same joint for three or four months, so that’s going to be fun. And everybody loves Chris and Bryce as well, so I think we’ll be a very happy bunch.” Neil also shared how he can’t wait to work again with his “dear friends” Goldblum and Dern again.
Work on Jurassic Park: Dominion was halted earlier this year due to COVID-19. Production is scheduled to begin again on July 6 at the Pinewood Studios in the UK. The studio has reportedly spent $5 million in efforts to keep the studio COVID-19 free.
As for Jurassic World: Dominion. This is shaping up to be quite the film. It is bringing the main stars from both Jurassic Park and Jurassic World together against the biggest dinosaur challenge to date, as seen at the end of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom and the subsequent short. Chris Pratt, in an interview with Ellen Degeneres, compared this movie to Marvel’s Avengers: Endgame.
“It’s got everybody,” Chris shared. “It’s got pretty much everybody in it.
“Maybe I just blew it, but I don’t care. All the cast from the original Jurassic Park is coming back. It’s going to feel very much like how Endgame brought everything together for Marvel.”
“It’s a massive movie, it’s a big movie. We’ll be all over the world,” he added. “The story is really, really engaging, really cool. It’s gonna be big.”
Fans will have to wait to find out though until Jurassic World: Dominion arrives in theaters in June 2021.
