Today it was announced that the highly anticipated series Star Wars: The High Republic will be released at a later date than previously anticipated. This comes as the coronavirus has caused marketplace delays.

The series will now be kicked off starting in January 21. Star Wars: The High Republic: Light of the Jedi, an adult novel by Charles Soule, and Star Wars: The High Republic: A Test of Courage, a middle-grade novel by Justina Ireland, will now release on January 5, 2021. These will be followed by Claudia Gray’s young adult novel Star Wars: The High Republic: Into the Dark on February 2, 2021.

At this time, new dates have not been announced for Marvel’s Star Wars: The High Republic series or IDW Publishing’s Star Wars: The High Republic Adventures series. Lucasfilm has shared that new release dates for them will be released at a later time.

StarWars.com has the following description about Star Wars: The High Republic:

Star Wars: The High Republic is set in an era when the Galactic Republic and the Jedi Order are at their zenith, roughly 200 years before the events of Star Wars: The Phantom Menace. This period on the Star Wars timeline will not overlap any filmed or planned Star Wars movies or series, giving creators a blank canvas and a vast amount of creative room. There will be new worlds, new foes, new heroes, and new adventures.

A statement was also released by Michael Siglain, the creative director for Lucasfilm Publishing. Read it in full here:
