Pumpkintown – An Interview with Don Carson

On Wednesday, May 6th at 7:00pm PST, DAPS MAGIC is proud to share an interview with theme park attraction creator and concept designer Don Carson.

Mr. Carson is a veteran in the field, with numerous credits any Disney fan will instantly recognize – including the designs of Mickey’s Toontown in Disneyland, and Walt Disney World’s Splash Mountain.

In this interview, Mr. Carson shares unique insight into the creative design process with his recent work; a step-by-step sharing in concept to design of a hypothetical dark ride called Pumpkintown, created over the last month.

This is a rare peek at a process many will never see, with so much of this type of work kept behind closed doors. The discussion includes photos and videos from Mr. Carson, demonstrating the techniques of his craft in both the physical and digital spaces. He also shares the importance of aspects of his work, including point-of-view, collaboration, and investment in the process.

A grateful thank you to Don Carson for taking the time to share his process! To see more on the behind-the-scenes of theme park attraction designing, please visit his blog, “Theme Park 101”!
