Disney has set its sights on Robin Hood as the next movie to be remade. Kari Granlund is working on a script for this project. This is the same person who wrote last year’s live-action remake of Lady and the Tramp is now working on a remake of Robin Hood. The remake will be a combination of CGI and live-action storytelling.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, this new version will be a musical and the characters will again be anthropomorphic. Because this film is in such early development, not a lot else is known about the actual movie. However, some of the team that will be bringing it together has already been set in place. This includes Justin Springer, who was brought on as a producer. He worked on Dumbo and Tron Legacy. Carlos Lopez Estrada has also been brought on to direct the project. He is perhaps best known for directing the 2018 crime movie Blindspotting.
The original Robin Hood was a musical storytelling of one of England’s most famous heroes. In this case, the title role was portrayed as a fox. The same was true for Maid Marian. Little John was a bear. Friar Tuck was portrayed as a badger. On the villain side of things, Prince John was portrayed a thumb-sucking lion. His henchman, the Sherriff of Nottingham was a wolf. Prince John’s advisor, Sir Hiss was unsurprisingly a snake. This film was released in 1973.
When this new verision of Robin Hood will be released is currently unknown.
