Earlier this week, Disney took to their Youth Program website to announce that they had made the difficult decision to cancel all 2020 Grad Nites at the Disneyland Resort. Each year, Disneyland celebrates high school graduates with these special after-hours events to kick off summer. Unfortunately, due to the circumstances around the world, Disneyland is unable to guarantee that the parks will be open, as 2020 dates begin in just a few weeks.
These were the planned dates for this year’s Grad Nites at Disneyland:
May: 8, 9, 15, 16, 20, 26, 27, 29, and 30
June: 2, 3, 5, 6, 10, 12, and 13
Planning for 2020 Grad Nites began all the way back in June 2019, when the dates for this year were announced. Many high school graduating classes have their plans for this celebration set before the school year even begins. Because Disneyland is aware of how much planning goes into these parties, they don’t want to disappoint more guests as the events draw closer.
If you are a parent or a student of an affected school, be sure to reach out to your event organizer for instructions on what to do next. Disney will be reaching out to each group’s confirmed contact, which could take some time as many high schools participate every year.
Though COVID-19 has canceled gatherings through the rest of this school year, Disneyland Resort has announced that they look forward to hosting more Grad Nites next year and many years into the future.
