The Star Wars Rival Run Weekend will not go forward as planned on the weekend of April 16-19, 2020. The announcement was made on the runDisney website. According to the website the decision was made out of an effort to make sure that the safety of both Cast Member and Guests is paramount in the decision-making progress.
In an abundance of caution, the 2020 Star Wars™ Rival Run Weekend will be cancelled. In addition, because our runDisney races require the presence of local medical professionals and first responders to monitor and treat runners, this will free up those resources for more critical needs during this time.
Those who were to participate for the Star Wars Rival Run Weekend and also purchased registrations at runDisney.com will receive a refund for the race registration. They will receive a refund back to the original form of payment for the following:
- Race registration (Half Marathon, 10k, 5k, Mile, Dash, Rival Run Challenge)
- Commemorative merchandise
- ChEAR Squad
- Processing fee
For those who received a partial refund, they get the remaining balance on a Disney gift card.
It is expected that refunds should be arriving in four to six weeks. If a refund hasn’t been received after six weeks, contact runDisney by visiting the “contact us” section on runDisney.com.
If a runner boked through a charity or tour operator, they will need to reach out directly to the organization they booked through for more information. Those who booked through Walt Disney Travel Company can reach out to them for available refund options at 407-939-4786 (407-939-IRUN).
Future runDisney on-sale dates are going to be adjusted with more information to be released in the near future. Stay tuned to DAPS MAGIC for these future updates!
