The Disneyland Resort All-American College Band is reaching out to alumni of the program ahead of its 50th anniversary this summer. A post on their Facebook is telling alumni that the band would like to “hear from you and see where your journey has led.” It then details instructions on how to fill out a questionnaire so that information can be shared.
The reason given behind this request for information is so that Disney can “better understand the incredible reach and impact that the College Band has had. Responses are also important in the next steps of planning an anniversary celebration.”
At this point, it isn’t known how the band will be celebrating its 50th anniversary. For its 45th anniversary five years ago, an alumni band was brought together for a very special day. It not only included alumni of the program but also former band directors. This included longtime director Dr. Art Bartner. The performed a set in Town Square and then made their way up to it’s a small world, with songs performed along the way. It really was an incredible day with an incredible sound!
45th Anniversary Disney All-American College Band
For nearly half a century the All-American College Band has been bringing top musicians from colleges and universities around the United States together for a summer experience in the music industry. Students perform daily in the parks five days a week, have clinicians with world-renown musicians and also get areas of study while they are in the program. This year’s band has just wrapped up auditions earlier this month and should begin performances in June. The 2020 Disneyland Resort All-American College Band program runs from May 21 – August 8.
Each year DAPS MAGIC covers the stories surrounding the Disneyland Resort All-American College Band. Videos of the band can be found on the DAPS MAGIC YouTube page dating back multiple years. Here is the 2019 Disneyland Resort All-American College Band.
