A new poster was released ahead of an upcoming trailer for Ghostbusters: Afterlife. The poster shows the iconic Ghostbusters car racing through what appears to be a cornfield. The new poster also arrived with some new details about the film via Variety. Director Jason Reitman shared some of the setup for the story, without revealing too much.
Reitman shared that Ghostbusters: Afterlife “is a new adventure that connects back to the Manhattan Crossrip of 1984.” The Manhattan Crossip referenced are the events of the original film. However, the film doesn’t appear to be taking place in Manhattan… at least not initially from what is being shown. Instead, it focuses on what happens to a family that moves to a small town and begins to discover their connection to the Ghostbusters.
“As the family arrives at an old farm, they begin to discover their connection to the original Ghostbusters,” Reitman said. “Trevor and Phoebe are about to find out who their grandfather was and whether they’re ready to pick up the proton pack themselves.”
The more the family explores the property, the more they discover that connects with the original Ghostbusters. A new trailer will most likely reveal more about this film when it arrives on Monday, including perhaps more connections.
Ghostbusters: Afterlife stars Carrie Coon as Carrie a single mother, Mckenna Grace as her daughter Pheobe, Finn Wolfhard who is a bit of a mechanic, Paul Rudd as a teacher, and also most of the remaining surviving Ghostbusters from the original films will be returning.
