There are so many things that are awesome that DAPS MAGIC covers, and doesn’t cover, around the Disney Parks and beyond. This week, I am going to experiment with a new column that highlights things I find fun and interesting. This will primarily be focused on what is going on in the Disney Parks but it could go from beyond. Currently, I’m thinking of picking five favorites to share. All that being said, let’s get into this!
This week is Thanksgiving and there is a lot to be thankful for when looking around the world of Disney and geekdom. The holidays have descended on the Disney Parks and it is absolutely a beautiful time of year to visit that I absolutely love! There are some other exciting things happening though as well!
Mickey’s Happy Holidays
The first thing I’m focusing on as a favorite this week is Mickey’s Happy Holidays. When I first heard about this show, I will admit I didn’t have a huge opinion on what I would think about it. This all changed though the moment I heard the charming energetic music and saw Mickey and the gang dancing their way through Disney California Adventure. This show is full of holiday spirit, is whimsical, and quick! It is packed full of magic and quickly has become one of my favorite shows to catch during the holiday season! Oh, and it also has the toy drummers! If you get the chance, check out this show before it says goodbye at the end of the holiday season. Then, let me know if you like it as much as I do!
it’s a small world Holiday
This seems like it is almost too obvious to mention but I really like it. With a message of peace, positivity, and coming together, it’s a small world Holiday is a beautiful way to experience the holidays at the Disneyland Resort. It’s even more magical to ride at night as the lights glow in the darkness on the outside. The beauty continues as you float inside the attraction. This year, there are added smells to create an even more immersive experience! It’s a magical attraction that the whole family will enjoy!
Omnibus
The holidays are the best time of year to ride on the upper level of the Omnibus! As you go up and down Main Street, USA the garland is right in front of you and around you. It is simply magical and one of my favorite experiences. I like going both directions on Main Street as the garland frames both the castle and Christmas tree beautifully. It’s even more magical when one of the musical ensembles are playing music as the bus drives by!
Phat Cat Swinger
If you like big band jazz then this is the band to check out! Phat Cat Swinger is the west coast’s little big band and they are incredible! They are full of energy, musically fantastic, and bring the spirit of the season to life as they play in front of Paradise Bay. It is impossible not to smile while experiencing one of their performances! Throughout Disney Festival of Holidays, Phat Cat Swinger will be performing Wednesday – Saturday nights.
Disneyland Band Christmas Set
The Disneyland Band performs some absolutely beautiful Christmas music during the holiday season! Throughout the day there are Christmas songs peppered in during their various sets. The band sounds absolutely fantastic as they powerful perform their holiday music. It is definitely worth making it part of your Disneyland holiday experience!
These are just a few of my favorite things to experience at the Disneyland Resort and what I’m personally excited about this week.
