The second day of the D23 Expo was all about movie magic with some Mansion magic thrown in. The day was full of fun, magical memories, some long lines, and budding new Disney friendships.
The day started off with the Walt Disney Studios panel. This panel seems to get larger as the Walt Disney Studios keeps getting larger! This year, the panel covered quite a range of movies from Disney, Lucasfilm, Marvel, Disney Animation Studios, and Pixar Animation Studios. Multiple movies were highlighted with new details being revealed. They included:
- Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (Lucasfilm)
- Black Panther 2 (Marvel Studios)
- The Eternals (Marvel Studios)
- Black Widow (Marvel Studios)
- Jungle Cruise (Disney Live-Action)
- Maleficent: Mistress of Evil (Disney Live-Action)
- Mulan (Disney Live-Action)
- Cruella (Disney Live-Action)
- Raya and the Last Dragon (Disney Animation Studios)
- Frozen 2 (Disney Animation Studios)
- Soul (Pixar)
- Onward (Pixar)
All of the details about this panel and the movies can be found here.
Another highlight of the day for many of the D23 Expo goers was the Haunted Mansion: Celebrating 50 Years panel. This hour-long panel, hosted by Imagineer Kevin Lively, was a tribute to the Haunted Mansion and the people who make, and have made, it magical. It was very enjoyable and had a fantastic ending. This was a panel that will be remembered by those in attendance for quite some time.
Among other panels today, there was also an Imagineering panel that focused on the worlds that are created by Imagineers in Walt Disney Parks and Resorts. Immersive Worlds: Bringing Stories to Life in Disney Parks was hosted by Imagineer Joe Rhode and DAPS MAGIC will have an in depth post on this in the coming days.
Another highlight of the day was Disney on Broadway: A 25th Anniversary Celebration. Exactly what one would expect it to be, it was also incredible popular (to no surprise). This celebration of Disney’s Broadway production was full of the magic of the music.
As with all D23 Expos, there is a lot going on throughout the show floor and around the expo. People are in some absolutely incredible costumes. There are plenty of booths to check out both from Disney and other vendors. There are plenty of photo ops to be found as well. However, the best part about the D23 Expo is the celebration of a mutual love of Disney by all those in attendance. It really does bring in a bunch of people who all generally like the same thing, Disney. That is one of the highlights of the D23 Expo. These people come together and that shared love generally leads to immediate friendships, some of them last quite some time!
The second day of the D23 Expo was quite a day! Lots of awesome things were happening and it was impossible to cover it all in one 24 hour period. More coverage will continue to go up on DAPS MAGIC in the coming days. Sunday, DAPS MAGIC will be covering the Disney Parks and Experiences panel along with the 30th Anniversary Celebration of Disney Character Voices! Stay tuned for the upcoming posts, videos, and more!
