Disney Cancels “Descendants 3” Red Carpet in Memory of Cameron Boyce

This week, Disney lost a very talented young actor that fans loved around the world. Cameron Boyce was just 20 years old when he passed away last weekend. Fans recognized him from “Jessie”, “Grown Ups”, and of course, the “Descendants” series. While “Descendants 3” red carpet was scheduled for July 22, the Walt Disney Company has announced that they have canceled it in memory of Cameron Boyce.

“We’re proud to be part of Cameron Boyce’s legacy by showcasing his talents on screen but we are canceling the red carpet premiere event for ‘Descendants 3’ (scheduled for July 22) and instead, The Walt Disney Company will make a donation to the Thirst Project, a philanthropic organization to which Cameron was deeply committed,” said Disney Channel in a statement. “With permission from the Boyce family, Disney Channel will dedicate the telecast of ‘Descendants 3’ in Cameron Boyce’s memory.”

While this is a major tragedy for Boyce’s friends and family, we are glad to see the Walt Disney Company carrying on his legacy in a way that mattered most to him. We look forward to seeing the dedication to this young star when Descendants 3 debuts on August 2.
