Is this a kissing musical? Someday you may not mind so much! Disney Theatricals has announced their dedication to moving forward with making the musical version of The Princess Bride come to life.
Not only did Disney announce the project would be happening but they also announced the team behind it. David Yazbek, who recently won a Tony for his score to 2018’s Best Musical The Band’s Visit, will write the music and lyrics. The Princess Bride’s book will be a collaboration between Bob Martin and Rick Elice. Martin worked on The Drowsy Chaperone, and Elice also wrote the book for Jersey Boys with Marshall Brickman.
The film has been a classic since it was released on home video after the 1987 theatrical release. With everything from daring adventures to romance, this movie has a little bit of something for everyone in the family. The film starred Carey Elwes, Robin Wright, Mandy Patinkin, Chris Sarandon, Wallace Shawn, Andre the Giant, Christopher Guest, Carole Kane, Billy Crystal, Fred Savage, and Peter Falk. No word on if the musical will feature R.O.U.S but we can only hope they make an appearance.
