On Saturday, August 18th a special signing event was held at the Chuck Jones Gallery at the Anaheim Gardenwalk. Beyond featuring the artwork of Chuck Jones, this gallery is hosting Snow White to Star Wars – A Disney Fine Art Exhibit. This exhibit showcases artwork from across the many realms of the Walt Disney Company.
Snow White to Star Wars – A Disney Fine Art Exhibit at the Chuck Jones Gallery
As one would expect, there was art from Walt Disney’s original animated feature film, Snow White. In fact, there were beautiful cells of various scenes and characters from the film. There were also pieces that featured Mickey Mouse, Disney princesses, other Disney characters, and even Star Wars!
One whole wall of art featured artist James Coleman, who was on hand for the event. His work at the gallery featured quite a wide variety of styles and genres. One piece featured a beautiful scene in Italy. Another beautifully created the Ewok village on Endor. There were some other Star Wars paintings that used various types of metal leaf to add an extra dimension to it. Coleman, who has been painting for five decades, shared his passion for the art and artists in general. His passion was infectious as he talked about how art should be fun. He also shared how art should focus on beauty and highlight the beauty of the world. With the passion, he shows for his art, and art in general, it is easy to see why all of his pieces are so exquisite.
The exhibit and event were held in the Chuck Jones Gallery at the Anaheim Gardenwalk. There, the artwork of Chuck Jones himself could be found on the walls. There were many different variations of the popular characters created by Jones on the walls. While looking at the art, the DAPS MAGIC team was able to meet the grandson of Chuck Jones, Craig Kausen. Kausen shared many stories of his grandfather that added even more beauty and depth to the art on the walls.
Kausen also shared about the Chuck Jones Center for Creativity. He shared about how the Chuck Jones Center for Creativity came about. It really came down to a foundation not fitting the creative passion within the organization. It is an organization all about empowering and charging up the creative spirit. It is an organization that believes in going with the “yes” and finding solutions and not limiting with “no.”
Snow White to Star Wars – A Disney Fine Art Exhibit will be open at the Chuck Jones Gallery through Labor Day. Make sure to stop by and check out the artwork. You will find yourself immersed not only in art but the history that comes alive through the art on the walls. It is a beautiful exhibit in an incredibly charming gallery. Don’t miss it!
