New TRON: Legacy Light Cycle Set Arrives at Downtown Disney LEGO Store at the Disneyland Resort

Over the weekend a light cycle and rider arrived at the LEGO store along with a new LEGO® Ideas TRON: Legacy set that includes two light cycles, two figures, and a TRON grid for the light cycles. The set goes for 34.99. The set was created by two brothers from Devon, England. The brothers, Drew and Tom, shared their design for the LEGO® Ideas TRON: Legacy set.

“As fans of the Disney TRON: Legacy film and avid fans of science fiction, it was the whole essence of the digital world in the movie that we really wanted to represent. This inspired us to make the iconic Light Cycle, a fundamental element of the Tron universe.”

The brothers used their childhood LEGO collection to build different scenarios and ideas. They shared with LEGO.com that for this LEGO Ideas project, “We went through several models before settling on a design we both liked. We wanted to get the scale of the Light Cycle to minifigure right, and the overall colour scheme had to reflect the TRON feel.”

“We were very happy to achieve the milestone of 10,000 votes, and this being our first LEGO Ideas project adds to the overall joy. It was a great experience gathering support, as well as receiving great comments along the way. Creating a successful project can be hard and it can take time, so we would say not to rush things when creating a model, as you can always come back to it with new ideas and creativity.”

What do you think of this new lego set? Those visiting the LEGO Store at Downtown Disney thought it was pretty amazing as it was flying off the shelves this last weekend! Let us know your thoughts about this set in the comment below.

LEGO® Ideas Tron: Legacy Description

Build, play and display with this futuristic LEGO® Ideas 21314 TRON: Legacy set from Disney, featuring 2 Light Cycles, each with minifigure seats and translucent-colored light-style elements, plus a divisible TRON grid with attachment points for the vehicles.

Use the grid as a display base for the Light Cycles or split it in 2 to recreate the chase scene from Disney’s TRON: Legacy movie. Alternatively, stage an Identity Disc battle between the 3 included LEGO minifigures—Sam Flynn, Quorra and Rinzler—on the grid. This construction toy includes a booklet with information about its fan creator and LEGO designers, plus the lowdown on Disney’s TRON: Legacy movie and its main characters.

The LEGO® Ideas TRON: Legacy set can be purchased at the Disneyland Resort at the LEGO Store in the Downtown Disney District or online here.
