Over the last week, guests at the Disneyland Resort have noticed signs popping up all over Tomorrowland warning droids where they can and can’t go. Accompanying these signs has been a droid named Jake, who rolls around Tomorrowland, stopping to snap pictures with guests and exploring where he can.
You may remember that we have previously seen Jake the Droid rolling around Star Wars Launch Bay and D23 Expo , but this is the first time we have seen the little droid exploring such an open space surrounded by a large amount of guests. Jake has generated a great amount of interest in guests, and many become incredibly excited to see such a new piece of technology just passing through.
This seems to be a test for technology that we could be seeing at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, opening at the Disneyland Resort in May 2019. Droids like this could serve a huge role in immersing guests into the world of Star Wars, especially when crowds descend upon the land and make attraction experiences limited, it will be a positive element that experiences can come to guests, wherever they are.
Have you had the opportunity to meet Jake the Droid? Let us know what you thought!
